Don't bother with the cheap cases. When you open the case the flap just swings around to the back and doesn't interfere with any operations you need to perform.
After using it for a brief period, I can say that I definitely am glad that I ordered this case. The rich, soft leather looks and feels great with the added bonus of protecting your iPod Touch. I just ordered this case with the new iPod Touch a few days ago.
The front cover is held in place by magnets which works great and means you don't have any unsightly snaps or flaps to deal with. The attached belt clip is very convenient for carrying around your iPod, and I'm glad they included it.
The case is designed so that you can attach your USB cable and earphones without taking the iPod Touch out of the case. It's thick enough, yet light, so that if you drop your iPod it will be well protected.Bottom line is I recommend this case very highly.
You get what you pay for and I think this is good value for the money.
I just got this case, took about two weeks to ship with free shipping. If I had known, I would have gotten one without a belt clip. It seems like a nice case, but my main concern is that the belt clip does not detach. Not sure why I thought it would, but it adds almost a half an inch to the thickness of the whole thing. Otherwise, it's a nice case. Not sure how much I'll use it.
The stitching on the one I received seems fine. The DLO HipCase is OK, but not so great. I would not recommend this product if you have fat fingers and/or type a lot on your ipod.PROS----------------The leather is nice. And, I like the fact that it flips open, because I feel like it offers nice protection for the ipod.CONS---------------Unfortunately, (as another reviewer mentioned) the leather on the borders gets in the way and makes it difficult to type on the keyboard when the device is vertical. After a week of struggling to get the "p" key to work (on the edge of your Qwerty keyboard), I switched to a different case (Tumi T-Tech Hard Skin Case) and I now type with ease.
I was stuck with one working and one folio/case that is a pain in the neck to use. The packaging for both was identical. I'm not as upset about losing out on $17 that I paid for this product as I am about the fact that eek Technology won't admit their shipping mistake and are simply trying to hide behind their standard ".our return policy is." spiel. About 5 weeks after my sons have been using them, I find out from my younger son that his folio doesn't allow him to adjust volume without removing the iTouch from the case.
Others have been similarly duped with this purchase - read all other 1 and 2 star reviews carefully before purchasing this. Turns out the two pieces I ordered were NOT identical: one had the openings in the proper top-left side (designed for the 2nd gen), allowing for volume adjustment with the iTouch holstered, while the other didn't. When I contacted eek Technology, they told me that since I'm bringing this to their attention after my 30 days are up, they cannot help me out in any way. I ordered two of these DLO HipCase Leather Folio cases along with my purchase of two 2nd gen iPod Touches for my sons, ages 10 and 8, all in the same order. The design for the 1 Gen and 2nd Gen are NOT the same. Clearly, it is (b) above.Beware of this seller - their customer service is terrible.
I will never buy from this seller (eek Technology) again. I would recommend you study your order and check it immediately and thoroughly upon receipt - or you could face this problem, too.
BE CAREFUL. But guess what.
Lastly, the product description online as well as in my emailed receipt read "2 of DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case for iPod Touch 1G and 2G (Black)", making it sound like the same one will fit both the 1G and 2G. I contacted DLO, and they said the problem was that: (a) either I made a mistake while ordering and ordered one for the 1st gen and for the 2nd gen (I didn't: I simply checked the quantities I wanted to receive during checkout), or (b) with the seller, eek Technology: they probably had old stock on hand and shipped me one for the 2nd gen and one for the 1st gen.
It isn't a defect with the case, per se. How was I to know one will be correct and one won't in the shipment I will receive.
This is my first-ever negative shopping experience at Amazon.com since the 90's.
The DLO HipCase Folio Case fits the 16GB 2nd generation ipod touch like a glove and looks good as well as being functional. The description of the product was accurate and one of the main reasons I purchased the product. If you are looking for a case to protect your ipod Touch then look no further.
